The War-Mongering Mentality

The resources to live are the most valuable commodities in the existence of animals. This leads to competition over basic necessities like food and water. Territories and the shelter they provide are worth fighting over in the wild. This is simply how things function in the lives of savage beasts.

Up to the point of our war-mongering knuckle-walking cousins the chimpanzees, conflicts like this had been unavoidable. We branched off from them a few million years ago and we could have become peaceful, but we did not. A couple million years ago, the bonobo did succeed at this though. They achieve non-violence through matriarchy, but there are other ways to do this as well.

Hopefully, it’s not too late for our species to change. I firmly believe that we can use our highly advanced brains to become sufficiently diplomatic, but stupidity and greed hold us back. Centuries ago Islamic scholars were world renowned, but then they turned their backs on science. Look at the Middle East now!

My country is the worst though!!!!! America spends about half of its money on weapons. The taxes I pay put guns in the hands of terrorists. Global warfare is paid for with the money I earn and I am mortified by that thought.

Humanity can be so much better than this. People have the means to provide a decent quality of life to everyone on the planet, but the world needs an international alliance with the full participation of every country on the map. Unfortunately, this would require competent and trustworthy heads of state and we are a long God damn way off from that.

Oh well, in lieu of us democratizing and socializing everyone, maybe if we don’t destroy ourselves and everything else in the process of increasing militarization, then maybe someday the descendants of the bonobo will evolve into a sophisticated utopic civilization — free of the war-mongering mentality!!!

Only time will tell…
