Family time and Univision

Growing up weekday evenings always consisted of my family and I gathering around the family room to watch the evening news broadcast on Univision. It was the way my parents stayed up to date on what was going on both nationally and locally.

Both my parents emigrated from Mexico to the United States and were always vigilant about watching the news for changes in legislation regarding their status in the United States as well as other social and cultural issues.

Univision was not just our source for news it was also our source of entertainment.

Despite the fact that I no longer live with my parents I find that I still look to the same ethnic media outlets. I like to follow ethnic media for the in depth coverage that it gives to certain issues in the Latino community.

Currently, I follow mainstream outlets and ethnic media outlets as my source for news.
