BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

Urban Migration especially from the rural areas to urban communities in Africa is as a result of multifarious reasons most of which is the search for a greener pasture. It is estimated that over 4million people migrate annually and the need to package food, drinks and other materials has become a major way to sell products on the go. Consequently the materials used for packaging most times are non-biodegradables which cannot break down or disintegrate for about 450–500 years.

In 1993 the Norwegian physician Per Fugelli wrote “the patient earth is sick” a lot of global environmental disruption and its kinds have serious consequences on our beloved planet earth. The need to protect and nurture the environment becomes our concern at Dispose Recyclers.

Dispose recyclers is a social enterprise with a vision centered on providing a cleaner and healthier environment through

- Recycling of plastic bottles in our community through regular clean ups

- Upcycling craft center for children in school

- Creating wealth through community awareness campaigns.

In Nigeria the poor knowledge of proper waste disposal poses a huge threat such as flooding, Illegal dumping of plastic bottles can lead to health complication from toxins leached into the surrounding environment, killing plant and destroying sources of food for the local and aquatic animals, loss of lifes and properties, increase breeding site for mosquitoes to thrive etc, hence the need to consistently educate the masses on the effect of illicit dumping becomes a major cry in our country.

Dispose recyclers in September 2018 carried out one of the biggest clean up campaigns and awareness projects. in 3 key conjestested locations in Lagos Nigeria, these areas were strategically selected as a result of consistent report of flooding, high waste disposal , sickness, traffic. due to clogged drainages.

Dispose recyclers. since inception in August 2018 have single handedly funded every of our activity.

As a startup, we have removed about 30,000 tonnes of plastic waste so far, empowering about 30 youth through our wealth creation model over the past 5months of operation.

Our dream by 2030 is to have a circular economy that is working in Nigeria.

STRATEGIES FOR IMPLEMENTING.

We have adopted an incentive-based model, our subscribers are given a loyalty card where all points gained are recorded for an incentive for recycling their waste. This-incentives are strictly donated from sourced out sponsors who freely give out their product as a means of encouragement to sustain our mission.

• We visit school to share with them our vision and passion which is geared towards sustaining the environment through our hands-on upcycling event/ awareness campaign. We teach the children how to turn plastic waste into beautiful crafts to encourage an eco-conscious environment.

• Organized quarterly clean-up /awareness campaigns are our focus at dispose recyclers during which a strategic location is identified and a massive clean-up is carried out at such location.

We serve the general public, so long as you have recyclables to dispose we are at your service from Schools, Churches, Mosques, Shopping Mall, Homes etc.

PROGRAM & SERVICES.

Dispose recycler is a waste recycling and social benefit venture that motivates people to recycle and create value to their everyday waste. We operate solely an incentive-based scheme that collects recyclable materials from our subscribers and their points recorded on our loyalty cards for instant prices.

At dispose recycler we encourage post-consumers to neatly separate and bag the following waste items.
