America’s “Kryptonite” — why 3 Doors Down Performing at the Inauguration is Perfect (and Terrifying)
So, 3 Doors Down is performing at the pre-inauguration concert.
Obviously, I thought about the only 3 Doors Down song that matters— “Kryptonite.”
Let’s break this down for a second.
The song is about a guy who thinks he’s amazing and a superhero and the answer to everyone’s problems… and also might go insane and wants to make sure we’re still cool with that.
If I go crazy then will you still
Call me Superman?
No matter what crazy thing Trump says, we will still call him the President because Obama told us we need to give him a chance.
And if we don’t, we’ll be stuck with Mike Pence.
I took a walk around the world to
Ease my troubled mind
I watched the world float to the dark
Side of the moon
I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah
America… everyday… since November 8th, 2016.
Also, Hillary has been doing more walking than anyone else.
I watched the world float to the
Dark side of the moon
After all I knew it had to be
Something to do with you
Trump will blame it all on the “corrupt media,” we won’t know what’s real, what’s fake, up will be down, the sky will be red (because science and global warming are apparently fake), and he will never take responsibility for anything.
I really don’t mind what happens now and then
As long as you’ll be my friend at the end
All Trump cares about is being liked, that Putin is still his friend, and that people prefer his seasons of The Apprentice over Arnold Schwarzenegger’s.
You called me strong, you called me weak,
But still your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times
I never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head,
If not for me then you’d be dead
I picked you up and put you back on solid ground
This is the lullaby Putin will sing to Trump every night for the next 4 years.
If I’m alive and well, will you be
There a-holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side with
My superhuman might
America is a superpower. We come back a lot stronger after we’ve been knocked down.
In 4 years, we’ll see if America can survive Trump or if he really is our Kryptonite.
