Regardless of the circumstances, the teacher should have taken the high road and handled the situation differently. To leave a child obviously upset and not understanding why he was being left out was completely unacceptable. It was obvious the teacher was deliberately preventing the little boy from reaching the microphone. She very quickly moved to the mic and jerked it out from the stand. To see that child standing alone on the stage, crying, with laughter all around him, is just heartbreaking. The smirk on the teacher’s face makes it all the more disgusting. No, this was a deliberate act and it’s shameful. And whether it was an autistic child has no bearing on the situation. No child should have been treated in this manner.
