Introducing Me

Where to start? Hmm… I am a single mum to a son of 28 who is still at home. I am a practicing Christian (I still get it wrong at times) and am disabled. I live with chronic illnesses, I would name them but feel that I would probably forget at least one. It doesn’t stop me but it has slowed me down considerably. I could prattle on about how this illness is horrid etc and it is but I won’t bore you, instead I will tell you why I feel lucky. These are in no particular order -

1- I have my life (I nearly died when I was 18)

2- I have my son who, although he regularly drives me nuts, is the love of my life. He has turned out to be a fantastic human, who is wonderful and caring etc. I could go on but, again, don’t want to bore you

3- I live in the UK and even though I am forced by illness to live on benefits (and this could happen to you at any time) I am still in the top 5% richest people in the world

4- In the UK we have the NHS, and although it is struggling to cope, is still a brilliant institution that helps many people. Because of the NHS many people, like myself, who suffer from illness and disability are able to access medical treatment

5- I have a fantastic support network in my family and friends

6- The internet, oh the joys of social media and online shopping. My life is so much easier than it could be.

7- Geeky weirdness, yes, I am a self confessed geek. I am also a hippy, an activist, a feminist, a scatterbrained woman. I am complex and relish in my complexity. I like to keep people guessing as much as possible

8- I love crafting and collecting crafting equipment and materials

9- I love reading and collect books

10- I am not a hoarder (I have been assured by many that it is not hoarding if it is craft supplies or books)

So there you have it. A small introduction into the world of me. I am sure more will be revealed as I continue to write here.
