I see your point and I know how hard it can be. I’ve had my share of those customers as well, but my faith in the future is derived from the fact that the market has changed ridiculously fast. I don’t think any paradigm shift has landed faster than the use of public cloud. There will be holdouts for sure, but the cost of running your own DC is questioned more and more intensively every budget cycle. At some point, even the conservative companies will break, and it’s impressive to see how the big cloud companies are bringing out very conservative companies as reference customers.
That said, I’m not talking about a total cloud conversion, and there are plenty of workload scenarios where cloud wouldn’t be the best option. That’s one key reason why Microsoft is focusing so much on hybrid DC products.
