Good thought, but it’s all over the map here.
Here, South Americans still claim their family’s country of origin.
For example, a person may say, “My family is Italian, but we live in Argentina.”
In America, the same person would say, “My family came from Italy, but we have been Americans since (insert the year.)
Or, to put it another way, there is little Argentine pride here among native-Argentines and they remain steadfast to the country they come from.
It’s hard to explain, but I hope you get the drift of what I’m trying to say.
