Trump’s Executive Orders are not real help — it is more gaslighting of Americans

So you think Trump gave people unemployment benefits? Oh how I wish he was actually helping people. The main issue is the president does not have the power of the purse, only Congress does. And the executive order made the $300 from the government contingent upon the states being able to pay the remaining $100. Which they don’t have, because the states have been devastated financially by the pandemic. In any case, it would take quite some time to implement so people will still be made to wait for help. Trump’s people could have negotiated in good faith but they did not. Now it seems that was intentional, so he could try to play the part of generous benefactor. What a cruel lie. Even the payroll tax relief is a farce, designed merely to start dismantling the nation’s social security program.

Now there are people saying the democrats should compromise. While some compromise is always needed, how can it be demanded when the republican controlled Senate starting point is ZERO. How is that compromise? $250,000 designated for food programs for Americans — that’s another virtual zero. No money for the states — so where will the money come from for education, teachers, doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, etc?

Let’s call this what it is. All talk and no walk. Trump, McConnell, Mnuchin, McCarthy, Graham — we see through you. We will not be gaslighted. You don’t want to help. You are grandstanding. The HEROES Act was passed by the House of Representatives two months ago, where were you?

Poor people, the working poor, the unemployed, the disenfranchised. At least 30% of the electorate — you have power. You have the power to change this country. Your superpower….is VOTING.
