I think there’s another way the Western modern art helped challenge the command-and-control system. That every one could be an artist because art is no longer confined to highly skilled painters (in the traditional sense) helped empower people instating their identity as an artist, without the need of an official recognition. Such liberty speaks against the assigned duties by the state.
That said I know very little about modern art or Soviet history. I appreciate any thoughts or correction. Thanks for this intriguing piece.
