Ignite is an early-stage accelerator programme for start-ups with high-scaling potential (usually tech), established in 2011 we’ve supported more than 500 founders, who between them have raised hundreds of millions in investment and created hundreds of jobs.

The Ignite North of Tyne programmes (funded by NTCA) run twice a year, supporting 15 teams through our early stage pre-accelerator and 10 teams through our accelerator programme.

Community and Communications Manager

From organising events (online and offline) to creating video content, this role is all about supporting the North East tech community both inside and outside of the programme.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about entrepreneurship to help us support the teams on the programme through events, communicating their stories across our social media, and managing our online community.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Engage the tech community inside and outside of the Ignite NE programme through regular events and communication
  • Identify relevant support available regionally and nationally and share with the teams
  • Manage and support the online Ignite community
  • Create and share stories and news from Ignite NE and the programme teams through video, audio and written posts
  • Manage our social media and mailing lists

What We’re Looking For:

  • Ability to create content (written, video, audio)
  • Experience developing and supporting an online community

Nice To Have:

  • Experience working in/with tech startups
  • Knowledge/understanding of NE tech scene
A recent Ignite workshop in Newcastle

What We Offer:

  • Salary of £30–35k
  • Flexible and Hybrid working (Based at home, in-person for events and workshops)
  • Opportunity for travel to US
  • 25 Days holiday a year, plus bank holidays
