A short story about a boy called Jimmy.

Jimmy looked at her, and thought to himself if only he had the courage to go up to her and ask her out. he wanted to do it , but just couldn’t. he was really attracted to her, she had long black hair. she was wearing a short blue miniskirt with a white top. she had the most beautiful smile that he had ever seen.

I’m not doing this again. he said to himself.

The last time he went up to a girl who he thought was still his friend. he got attacked from behind.

All he wanted to say to her, was that she looked beautiful today. but this guy Mike, took it the wrong way. he was in the rugby team, built like an ox, it didn’t take much for big mike to push jimmy out of the way and show everyone just exactly what he thought of him.

When jimmy went home that day and finally looked in the mirror, he saw that his left eye was bruised up, his upper lip had a small cut. what hurt the most was his heart, all he wanted to do was talk to Amy, let her know that even though they no longer hang out anymore. he still thinks of her everyday, misses all the fun they used to get up to when they were small.

“Jimmy, what in the world happened to you? are you alright?

“Yes, mom. its nothing. i wasn’t looking where i was walking, and next thing i tripped and banged my head against the table.”

“The table you say?”

“Come here, let me take a look at that eye of yours,”

All Jimmy could think about was Amy, he wondered if she was worried about him. like he was of her, he hoped that big Mike wasn’t harsh with her as he was with him.

There was a knock on the door.

“i’ll get that son,”

Jimmy was sitting on the couch with a bag of peas over his left eye, and as he turned to his right to ask his mom who it was. there she stood in front of him.

He couldn’t believe it, was it really her?

“Hey Jim, are you ok? i don’t know what got into mike. he knows that we basically grew up together. i…i was worried about you, so i thought i’d pop in?

“I’m ok, couldn’t believe it myself, i was so focused on you, that i didn’t notice what was going on around me. i’m glad you came, feels like years since you were last here hey?”

“It does hey? i miss those days,”

“You know you can come over anytime you want? not just when i got my ass kicked.” jimmy replied

“I know”

Jimmy dropped the bag of peas he was holding and asked her if she wanted to sit down.

“Sure, mom’s coming home late anyway. you know how she gets with a new case.”

“Is she doing that murder that happened a few weeks back, with the movie guy and his girlfriend?”

“That’s the one, mom took that case up as soon as she knew who it was that was involved, win or loose she is getting paid big on this one”

Amy hadn’t changed much in all the years that he knew her, she had blue eyes, blond hair, had a slim body. was a bit shorter than Jimmy, he was about 5ft, had short brown hair, blue eyes.

“You still got monopoly here”

“Yea, i think so, does that mean you are staying over tonight?

“I guess so, but only if you don’t buy up all the hotels again, ok”

Jimmy laughed.

“You make it so easy, how can i not. i’ll only buy like 2 this time, how’s that?”

“Ok”

They talked in between, catching up on everything they missed out on. she told him about her last ex and how crazy he was, what her dad was doing since the divorce. how her mom was thinking about setting up another practice, wanting to go really big.

Jimmy told her about what his plans were for next year after graduating, what his dad had been up to in Botswana. how is mom Grace, was about to get a promotion at work.

He thought to himself maybe getting beaten up by big Mike wasn’t so bad after all…
