The real irony, in light of all that is said here, lies in the reality that the United States serves as a beacon of hope to so many Peoples of world nations who view America as the last frontier; the “Promise Land”, as is said, where personal ambition will derive wealth of prosperity. This is most evident by the lengths those of Central America being brutally persecuted, and willing to trek thousands of miles on foot, to reach the “Promised Land” only to discover the harshest of realities, as is painted by this essay.
The global spread of American propaganda in the form of Hollywood entertainment: movies, music, celebrity life-style, fashion, etc., paint a false picture; a thin veneer on the truth that is the likes of Baltimore and countless other failing metropolis and small towns.
The cliche phrase “Make America Great Again” is more true as a reflection of the contemporary failing of the United States than it is a slogan for the hope for restoration to the faded memory, to what, by all measure, it never was.
