Roadblocks of the week and how to overcome them

Time and time again I find myself running into issues with my code that range from small bugs to ones that break the entire project before I even realize what happened. However, I also feel like bugs exist in real life too. Perhaps they’ll be with learning, understanding, or even interactions. As my stats professor used to say, there is always potential for that confounding variable to come and skew your data.

A few road blocks/goals this week are as follows:

  • API’s in C#, but also Node.js because I LOVE Javascript
  • React Framework (React Native)
  • Software Engineering Concepts
  • Databases as a whole
  • A deeper understanding of Angular 2/4

Some things just BOTHER me when I don’t understand them. That list above is really my current list of annoyances, sources of my eternal pain. I’m not sure why, but if I don’t understand something, and it feels like it’s taking a great deal of effort to learn it, it really grinds my gears. I want to be great so badly, but it feels like I’m driving uphill in a car with only one wheel sometimes..

With all this being said. I am working on a plan to achieve all of these to at least a higher degree than the level I am currently at by the end of my internship. I’ve been tossing around a few ideas, too:

  • Plan out my projects more thoroughly
  • Have consistently working software through each stage of development
  • More of an emphasis on testing
  • More time reading before blindly hopping into something

So yeah, it will take more time, but for now that’s what I have.

I don’t think anything bothers the hell out of me more than when something doesn’t quite make sense to me and I just can’t seem to figure it out.

Okay that’s all for now, and to whomever is reading this, thanks.
