Peanut Butter & Wheat Toast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, says science. And there are many nutritious things you can put into your body to start your day. But peanut butter and whole wheat toast is arguably the best way to start what will probably be a day filled with sadness and despair.

There are many ways you can eat peanut butter and wheat toast. The easiest however is simply spreading a table spoon of peanut butter over toasted wheat bread. The brand of peanut butter you chose is not important. It is important however that the bread be toasted, not a requirement, but this method of eating peanut butter and wheat toast is infinitely better. I like the warmth the toasted wheat bread adds to the peanut butter. It also makes spreading the peanut butter on to the toast easier. Nobody likes torn bread, especially wheat bread.

I like to do two slices of wheat bread because I typically eat lunch late in the afternoon. If you’re not a late lunch eater like myself, maybe you could start your day with just one piece of toasted wheat bread with peanut butter. The choice is really up to you and you can’t go wrong.

You could use crunchy peanut butter or creamy peanut butter. I’m partial to crunchy because I like the crunch.

Wheat bread is better than white bread. Because like my mother said, “stay away from things that are white – white flour, white sugar, white cocaine and white people.”

One piece of wheat toast with peanut butter contains about 170 calories, so two pieces of wheat toast with peanut butter is double that, according to Livestrong.com.

If the beautiful simplicity of wheat toast with peanut butter isn’t enough for you, there are variations that are probably just as delicious, but I can not confirm this because I only eat wheat toast with peanut butter. Other, perhaps more adventurous peanut butter and wheat toast eaters, like to add things like bananas, or honey, or even blueberries.

Some people with entirely too much time on their hands like to draw things on their whole wheat toast and peanut butter with fruit, I’ve never done this, but you can if that’s something that would make you happy.

While those variations of peanut butter and wheat toast may be delicious, you can never go wrong with simply a few pieces of toasted wheat bread topped with a dollop of crunchy or creamy peanut butter.

If you don’t have a lot of money this breakfast is very affordable. The average cost of a loaf of wheat bread is about $2.50 and peanut butter is equally affordable. You can have a delicious, healthy and affordable breakfast every day for less than $6 a week.
