Competing for College

Filling out the college applications

Trying to determine my allocations

Not enough; no, I’m not enough

All my answers are filled with fluff

I hate competing for a privileged opportunity

Are not others more deserving in the community?

I live with fear and guilt sometimes

But yet I’ve committed no immoral crimes

So if there’s a God, please answer this question,

Why’d I start here and what am I destined?

Gifted love and affection and everything good?

Carve the answer in stone or even on wood

But I’m not really guilty for being born here

It’s silly to criticize and self-promote fear

So let’s get these forms over with
