Appointment to the Haitian Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI)
It is with great pleasure that I announce my appointment as the Conseiller Spécial Blockchain for the Haitian Government. The Haitian Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) understands the importance of Blockchain technology, and seeks to bring projects and investment to Haiti in order to help the country digitize, secure, and automate the exchange of goods and services on a global level. I will ensure the country’s adoption of this groundbreaking technology with great humility.
The Republic of Haiti shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic, and is home to an estimated 10.8 million people. Although tourism has started to pick up over the years, it remains one of the world’s poorest countries, suffering from a lack of infrastructure, healthcare, and educational resources. Instead of relying on foreign aid and charity efforts, the government is seeking to build solutions internally and partner with social impact projects that show great promise.
The first order of business in my appointment is to sit with Haitian entities and provide detailed educational resources to help them understand the underlying technology’s advantages and possible use cases. From there, I will begin engaging with external regulators, business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs on behalf of the MCI. The mission is clear, simple, and dear to my heart. With the government’s backing, we will help Haiti build a better tomorrow.
