The PlayStation Move controllers allow you to realize the potential of motion-controlled action on your PS4 by letting you physically interact with your games. You can also pair the PlayStation Move controllers with your PlayStation®Camera in certain games.

PS4™ Move Controllers Setup

You can pair the PlayStation Move motion controller and Navigation controller to your system.
Begin with the PlayStation Move controller and a mini-USB cable commonly used with PlayStation 3 peripherals. The USB cable included with your PS4 is micro-USB and cannot be used with the Motion or Navigation controllers.

To set up a PS Move controller with your PS4:

Step 1: Connect the mini-USB cable from your Move controller to one of the 2 USB ports on the PS4.
Step 2: Hold down the PS button on the controller to pair it to your console. A menu of user profiles created on your PS4 will appear.
Step 3: Choose a user profile. If there are no existing profiles to choose from, you can create one.
Step 4: You’ll then return to the system menu, and will be able to continue playing. If your Move controller is fully charged, you can remove the mini-USB cable and play wirelessly.

Important Notes

Controls and calibration for gameplay will vary from game to game. Follow any on-screen instructions that appear when using your PlayStation Move controllers with a PS4 game. Games that require a camera for use with the motion controller will use the PlayStation Camera for the PS4. PlayStation Move works best with minimal direct sunlight, glare, and backlighting from behind the player.

On PS4 the START button is mapped as the OPTIONS button and the SELECT button is mapped as the SHARE button. If using the PlayStation Move controller with PlayStation VR, you can press and hold the START button for two seconds to reset your VR positioning.

PlayStation Move Troubleshooting

Make sure that you have paired the PlayStation Move to the system using a mini-USB cable and that the status indicator light at the base of the PlayStation Move is lit (little red light.)

Try to navigate the system menu using the PlayStation Move. Press and hold the T-button (trigger) and gently point the move to the left, right, up, or down. If you are able to navigate the system menu using the PlayStation Move, the controller should be working properly.

PlayStation 3 System

Make sure that the PS3 has detected and calibrated the PlayStation Move with these steps:

Step 1: From the XMB Settings menu, select Accessory Settings.
Step 2: Select Calibrate Motion Controller.
Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the PS Move to the PS3

PlayStation Eye

Make sure the PlayStation Eye is connected to one of the PS3’s USB ports. If your PS3 is turned on, there should be a blue light lit on the PlayStation Eye. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Under the PS3 XMB select Setting > Accessory Settings
Step 2:
Select Camera Device Settings
Step 3: If you are able to see an image of the area the camera is pointing at on the screen, then your PlayStation Eye is working properly.

Make sure that the PlayStation Eye has been set to wide-angle view. Try adjusting the lighting in the room. Make sure the room isn’t too bright and that there is no light behind the player. Be sure to be within 5-to-9 feet away the PlayStation Eye.

Additional PlayStation Move Troubleshooting

Make sure that you have calibrated your PlayStation Move to the software title. If you are in the game, press the SELECT button on the PlayStation Move to calibrate the controller to the game.

If the PlayStation Move still does not work properly, you can try resetting the Move Controller. On the rear of the controller, you can press the reset button using a thin-tipped object (such as a pen or paper clip).
