A consistent pattern of discrimination could lead to enforcement, but indeed it rarely happens. But I wasn’t just being “technical” at all … the original statement was “ Thus, in a sane world, the owners should be able to rent to whoever they want. It is their property. That is the end of the debate for me.” — which simply is not valid. There is no basis in law or ethics for this claim to an absolute right to the use of property, especially real estate … thus we have zoning laws, for instance. Without them, the world really would be insane.
