I wrote C for decades, was on the C standards committee (X3J11) and in fact was the first person in the world to vote the standard into existence (hey, alphabetical order), I’m a C language lawyer and have answered thousands of C questions on Stack Overflow. From the latter experience, it creates terrible programming habits; I don’t recommend it. Learn Rust or Nim or D or C++ for your low level language.
