The title is inflammatory and conniving and not a little sexist — those “girls” and “dames” were responsible citizens, regardless of their gender — you don’t even have to be a woman to belong to the LWV. And while the systematic exclusion of women from power is a very real thing, that’s not what this story is about. The author’s faux feminist framing projects his real agenda:
“Soon, a woman will be commanding from the White House for the first time in history, but her corporate agenda and compromised positions will sadly rob the feminist movement of the epic victory such a milestone should be.”
This is complete and utter bullshit — BernieBro propaganda of the worst sort. Hillary Clinton has a deep, lifelong history of aggressive promotion of feminist issues and values, starting long before her landmark “Women’s rights are human rights and human rights are women’s rights” speech. And she voted with Bernie 93% of the time when she was in the Senate, and is running on a very progressive platform. She does not in the least have a “corporate agenda”, nor are her positions “compromised”, other than in the sense that she is a pragmatic hardworking woman who gets things done, and recognizes that strategic compromise is often necessary.
