According to the facts you presented it would be an equally true statement if I just said, “White men built the White House.”
Yes, but it wouldn’t be relevant to Michelle Obama’s point. Surely you aren’t so dimwitted and intellectually dishonest as to not be able to understand why? Just to help you out: it was all about how far the treatment of blacks has come in America. In spite of people like you, of course.
Obama’s statement gives the clear impression that slaves alone built it
No it doesn’t … any more than “termites are driving down the value of my home” implies that nothing else is as well. And Ms. Obama’s point does not rest on exclusivity.
and I think that’s where people object.
No, they object because they’re right wing asswipes and racists. Notably, none of the objections mentioned in the article are about giving such an impression.
But that’s a typical leftist thing to do
Ah yes. Never mind about my question up top … you have provided the usual answer.
P.S. The response below from Mr. Wolfe was at least as dishonest and, frankly, stupid, as I expected. He doesn’t respond to any of my points, but rather blathers about true vs. false statements and he calls Ms. Obama’s statement false, contradicting his own original claim that “it would be an equally true statement”. He knows it’s not false, and Politifact clearly states it’s not false, but he calls it false. Why? Because he’s a right winger, which is a form of sociopathy, and it’s in their nature to use truth only as a rhetorical convenience; they have no allegiance to it. And that’s the last I will say about Mr. Wolfe, whom I have blocked.
