See in which Chicago neighborhoods you should be attentive for speed cameras.

Hidden speed cameras with minimal discretion haunt the city of Chicago.

In 2021, the militia of over 160 speed cameras scattered throughout Chicago collected over $89 million in revenue from tickets.

Chicago residents are well aware of the aggressive nature the city retains for issuing tickets.

Specifically in this past year, the city issued a ticket every 11 seconds.

Speed cameras surrounding public park.

Locating speed cameras around a public park and rather complex intersections deems very reasonable in my opinion.

I find that the allocation of these devices in this area were designated with children and protecting lives in mind.

Speed cameras on U.S. 66/ Ogden Ave.

Having a speed camera on a highway, especially with as much volume as the historic U.S. 66 almost guarantees to issue at least ten tickets per hour.

Travelers and non residents may be confused and discouraged to visit if they find out when they come home that they received a ticket for going slightly over the speed limit.

Nonetheless, these infractions are nearly impossible to rebuke.

Discrete signs warning you of a speed camera often tease the idea that you will be in trouble for disobeying it, but more so leaves you ignorant to the idea that tickets will be issued.

Drivers should reads signs and be weary of those around them but I find automating the process a police officer should be doing, ultimately rebukes the point of having police officers monitoring citizens.

I believe that if police officers were to pull over the offender and talk to them, progress towards safer driving and sound society would be strengthened.

This form of policing may eventually form a retaliation mindset from citizens subject to these fines.

Speed cameras outside of elementary school in Gage Park neighborhood.

Speed monitors for my lifetime, have always been utilized in school settings.

I believe having speed cameras here helps crosswalk workers for the school and rises the confidence of everyone migrating through the area.

Speed cameras in the Lower West Side neighborhood.

Throughout these three blocks, I found four speed cameras.

In area as congregated as such, I find the speed cameras to be rather reasonable to ensure the fluidity of traffic and safety of people.

I believe having four in this small area does seem rather unreasonable due to potential of being ticketed multiple times without knowing.

Do you believe Chicago’s motive of implementing speed cameras stems from desiring that citizens to speed less or to generate ticket revenue?
