During a 1994 blackout, L.A. residents called 911 when they saw the Milky Way for the first time

Hi.

I would just like to say that this article was a great read, but it also saddens me. It’s sad because it is true. All the artificial light blocks out the moon, the stars, and all of the natural things that make the night what it is. I’m not against the use of electricity, nor of street lamps. However, I do wish that people would let the night remain relatively dark, because the darkness is beautiful in it’s own way. It’s magical.

Thanks for posting this read, and I hope we can all rediscover the magic of nighttime again.
