Great thoughts. Thanks for chiming in! At least for the products that I’ve written for, I often ran into situations where it just felt unnatural to use a single perspective for all the text. I think some products could pull it off, but it might be trickier for other products.

If I had to stick with one pronoun, it would be “you”/”your,” but that leads to clunkier text in some situations:

“[ ] I agree to these terms” vs. “[ ] You agree to these terms”

“[ ] Remember me” vs. “Remember yourself”

The reason why I wrote “Add you to the invite list?” instead of “Add yourself to the invite list?” is because I was thinking that the product is speaking to me. I imagine it’s asking me: “Want me to add you to the invite list?”

But yeah, if I imagine that it’s myself speaking, then it would be “Add yourself to the invite list?”

It’s all a matter of perspective, I guess.
