Echoing on a spring day

Cattails are its home

Nothing says the return of spring in the Pacific Northwest like red-winged blackbird song in lakeside and salt water marshes. Boldly patterned in shiny black with red epaulettes on their shoulders, red-winged blackbirds are more than noticeable to even casual observers by both eye and ear.
