How to “Turn Off” your Twitter Timeline

I used to use the “Twitter Timeline Eradicator” Chrome extension to remove the Twitter timeline from my Twitter. It seems however that this extension has stopped working. I suspect this is due to the recent Twitter design update. Being mildly desperate to get rid of yet another addictive aspect of modern life that I knew I don’t have the discipline to abstain from, I figured out this quick solution:

  • Install this Chrome extension: CSS Injector
  • Copy-paste this line into the upper CSS box: article{visibility: hidden;}
  • Check “Apply for domain” checkbox, click “Save Style” and reload page

Done.

This is for the benefit of those who don’t know CSS and those who are too lazy to poke around in Twitter’s HTML to figure it out (or simply have more important stuff to do).

Hope it saves you some of your attention and sanity!
