Why I founded a meetup Group?
When you are working in the IT company you don’t get the time for keeping yourself in pace with the ever evolving technology. Projects keep you so busy that you don’t even get the time to interact with the same domain and same-mind people. Working in the IT industry from last 7 years and seeing the sudden change in the industry few year back I realized that how much essential it is to keep ourself to be in the pace and as well as in touch with other IT people working in same domain as there is so much to learn and unlearn and again re-learn.
So, I started doing research what are the ways I can keep myself update apart from blogs to the technology and also where I can interact with the same domain people to know what kind of work they are doing, share my knowledge and vice-versa apart from social media. So, I stumbled on the Meetup site and quickly I joined few groups. I was very excited to learn about meetup and going there.
The day came when I attended my first meetup and it was very disappointing. There was no clear agenda, there was no formal or informal way of organizing meetup and more over I was the ONLY girl and the content of the meetup was not good. Coming back from there I was feeling as it was all waste of time. But it was a beginning of a new journey — my own meetup group. I understood the problem area. I knew there are many more developers and wanna-be developers who wanted to learn, who wanted to connect but sad there is no strong platform for them and then me and one of my friend decided to start our own meetup group with one simple aim — “Talk Less and Code More” — as one cannot learn technology without coding. This is how our group http://www.meetup.com/Lets-decode-the-Javascript/ started and after 12 months , 11 meetups, 528 members we are proud that we are able to meet the aim from which we have started.
