Exercise: Visual Note Taking — [IronHack]

To sketch or not to sketch?

At the beginning of this pre-work I felt a little bit silly reading about the great importance of sketching, until I started doing it.

After reading tons of material about sketching and seeing videos about doodles, I started my first assignment feeling a bit skeptic, nevertheless, when I started doodling I immediately understood why this is so important. We are literally transferring what we are learning from our brains to the paper, and this is a really amazing exercise that helps us visualize our thoughts.

The moment you put your pen on the paper and start listening, your brain starts paying more attention to the content and you automatically understand what the important information is.

Obviously, my sketching skills are a little bit rusted and I had to stop the video several times to have time to write some things, but mid-video I started improving and felt like my hand was basically writing/doodling without even thinking.

I now understand how this can improve my learning skills not only professionally, but in my personal life. I’m happy to be starting this journey and cannot wait to hit the classrooms :)

First try of many.
