REVIEW & LOGO STUDY

2-way communication is always better than 1-way communication, since noice/feedback is a key data for delivering a message and bringing out a room for improvement, revising the error and solving the problem.

Being the sender, he needs to encode the message and deliver to the receiver in a media/channel that is understandable for the receiver to decode, e.g. by verbal, non-verbal, written or visual. However, communication error could occur due to different factors, this could caused by encoding or decoding problem, internal or external factor.

In order to get the response from the target audience, we could study the behaviourism and phenomenology, then structures the unstructured data to forecast the result and plan for the next step. Also, observation & focus group could let us know from the psychological points of view.

Logo Study

Decoding the image:

Seeing this logo at the first sight, I saw different eyes in different mood: tired, lost focus, looking upward and a half-half one like a day & night icon. The background is formed by different diamonds and triangles, which created some cubes like cubicles or some rooms. The colours being used are in high contrast but not really creating an exciting mood, since purple and green are a bit depressive.

The business nature of this logo:

There are some rooms in the logo as shown in cubicles format and eyes are representing people. I guess this is kind of service centre for SEN (special educational needs) kids, e.g. clinic or activity rooms for game and art therapy.

Noice while decoding:

There are some noice while decoding, as there are different eyes but the half-half one seems not be an eye and the smile could not be linked up. So, i have ever thought of whether it is a day & night centre, or even a youth hostel, since it runs all day & with different rooms.

What do you respond to this image:

I don’t get a very happy feeling even-though there is smiling mouth, especially the colour tone drive me to a depressive mood. Also, the tired eye affect the whole logo, bring the whole image with a very low energetic feeling.

How to encode your responding message:

With the different types of eyes, I guess the target customers are SEN children with autism, ADHD & inatientioness. This maybe a clinical centre to carry out play therapy and game therapy for SEN children.

Do you find any noise interfere with your encoding?

I am not sure the colour tone is really that depressive or just a subjective feeling, especially checking on screen. Showing the image on a projector during class was even more pale. Also, why do they need so many different eyes?

How do you reduce the noise to improve the performance of decoding and encoding?

After knowing the logo was designed for GAMEHUB, I would suggest them to simplify the logo as it is now too complicated for people to understand. First remove all the eyes that draw people’s first attention, and replace with a simple vector of a game console or controller. The mix of colour should be retuned as well, so either b/w or colour printing could clearly shown. The triangle & diamond shapes are too much in a logo, I would replace with outline of a play space.
