I’m Not Spending Mother’s Day with My Mom — By Choice

Beautifully written. It is difficult to know what to do on a day like Mother’s Day, when there are so many unresolved issues with someone we are supposed to praise and feel gratitude toward. Despite it all, the good in you (myself included) wants to reach out and show appreciation authentically. Not out of obligation, but in hopes of reciprocation. Also the desire to create a new parent/adult child relationship. Space and time are good ways to gain insight into what that is or could be like. Though, that insight may be yours alone.
