For I am God and there is no other!

Religion is the hoax Jesus is out to disclose…. The faith is not in religion, the faith is in God. A hardy, daring faith which believes God will do what is right, every time. And that God will do what it takes — whatever it takes — to bring His children home. ~ And The Angels Were Silent

Before Jesus walked the face of the earth, there was religion. Man was created with a ‘God-shaped-hole’ that religion has always sought to fill. But the truth is, religion is merely a placebo. A pretender to being a panacea for the ills of mankind. Religion invites you on a date and leaves you stranded, holding the bill with no means by which to pay it.

According to the Scriptures, Jesus boldly declares; “I am the gate for the sheep…The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. ~ John 10: 7,10

There is only one “Gate” by which to enter the sheep pen, and it isn’t religion!

From the earliest records of history there is evidence that humans have always believed in a Creator bigger than themselves. Then along came institutionalized religion and its attempts to bottle the solution to human problems and label it with their own brand of godliness. What “God is against” [gay rights, liberals, intellectuals, political views that disagree with mine, etc] became bigger than what “God stands for” [love, compassion, holiness, serving the poor and needy, etc], and in our pathetic attempt to distill God down to a formula, we created false gods.

Mind you, the gods we’ve created aren’t hewn from stone or molded from metal. No, these gods are even more insidious because they’re not as obvious. They are designed to temporarily placate the emptiness we feel at not living our lives altruistically. These gods masquerade under the cloaks of religion, authenticity, passion, generosity… and yet they all pale in comparison to the Truth.

While religion straddles the aisle of political correctness, Truth does not. While religion seeks to appease and accommodate everyone’s beliefs, Truth does not. While religion promises that everything will be well if you simply believe, Truth does not. Jesus declared, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Then He goes on to say, “If you will follow me, you must take up your cross, and die daily…”

Faith in God reminds us that some days will be significantly harder than others. Faith in God assures us that, “In this world you will have trouble.” Faith in God promises that we will be persecuted and hated for “His name’s sake.” But faith in God also promises that in the midst of it all, “He will never leave us nor forsake us.”

So today, “…if you would hear Him, don’t harden your heart.” Turn to Him and be saved, for He is God, and there is no other. Put your faith in God not in religious or political systems that are guaranteed to leave you stranded.
