On this day in 2017, right-hander Forrest Snow earned the win with three hitless innings in relief against the Smokies as part of a combined no-hitter for Biloxi, the first no-no in franchise history.

While we unfortunately won’t be able to bring you any live baseball until 2021, let’s take a look back at this date in Biloxi Shuckers history. The Shuckers have played six games all-time on August 14 and have a 2–4 record.

Despite Josh Hader pitching six excellent innings of two-hit, one-run ball with seven strikeouts, a solo homer in the first inning by Pensacola’s Jesse Winker held up as the only run of the game at MGM Park in 2015. Tyrone Taylor had two hits for the Shuckers while Josh Fellhauer and Nate Orf each clubbed doubles. The next year, Clint Coulter homered for Biloxi’s only tally in a 5–1 loss at Jackson.

On August 14, 2017, Biloxi and Tennessee played a doubleheader at MGM Park to make up for a game that was rained out the previous day. Dustin DeMuth and Troy Stokes Jr. each had a pair of knocks in Game 1, but DeMuth’s home run was all Biloxi could push across the plate in a 4–1 defeat. In the nightcap, history was made as the Shuckers threw their first no-hitter in franchise history, with four pitchers combining on the gem in a 1–0 seven-inning victory. Hiram Burgos retired all six batters he faced to start the game, Forrest Snow struck out four batters and walked just one in three innings, Nick Ramirez issued a walk and recorded a punchout in the sixth, and newly minted closer Jorge Lopez worked a perfect seventh inning to finish it off. The final out was recorded when Johnny Davis squeezed a fly ball off the bat of Yasiel Balaguert. Troy Stokes Jr. supplied the only offense his pitching staff would need with a one-out solo blast in the first inning.

The Shuckers hosted another twinbill in 2018 and again ended the day with a split, this time in a pair of contests against Mobile. Trent Grisham delivered three separate run-scoring hits in the opener, including a home run in the second inning and a walk-off single in the eighth to give Biloxi a 4–3 win. The BayBears earned a split with a 4–1 triumph in Game 2, holding the Shuckers to five singles.

Coincidentally enough, after back-to-back doubleheaders on this day in 2017 and 2018, the Shuckers and BayBears were rained out on this day last year, keeping the franchise from playing a very rare seven games on one date through just five years.
