God and Religion

There is such a difference between faith & belief. Belief informs me that God is larger than the child’s wretched tragedy; that there’s more here than I or we can see. But it’s faith that would draw me to her parents or anyone whose life was touched by this child’s life and death; to simply be or sojourn with them and agree that what they are living through is, indeed, a kind of hell. Faith is always primarily in the feet. I am called by the God I trust to walk with other alcoholics as they struggle — like I did- to find and hold onto sobriety. Over time it’s been my faithful “walking” that has shaped & deepened my belief. I actually feel now that my belief is a gift given over time by my experience with faith. Thank you for your thoughtful article — you are on to something here!
