A lot of things have happened since I sat down to write down the first edition of this article, The best places for coffee shop coworking in Amsterdam.

Back then I had just started off on my freelance adventure, was working for my first clients, and was looking for places where I could get some work done. While I’ve moved to Paris and am now working for clients like Spotify, not much else has changed. I still love working from coffee shops!

One thing I noticed soon after moving is that Paris has a very different coffee culture than Amsterdam. While the latter is flooding with third-wave cafés perfect for working, the French capital is only getting started on this front. Nonetheless, I’ve been able to find a bunch of great places to open your laptop and hop on the wifi.

The requirements to be considered for this list are still the same:

  • You can connect to free, stable Wi-Fi
  • There are a decent amount of outlets to charge your device
  • More than enough seating that’s fit for working
  • Staff doesn’t mind that you stay around to work on your laptop

This list is continuously updated, dropping places that fail to meet the above criteria and adding newly opened gems. Found an incredible place I’ve missed in this guide? Reach out on Twitter!

Blackburn Coffee

One of my favorites in the city, Blackburn is a laid-back hangout with top-tier coffee and lunch options. They also have an impeccable music taste, which helps a lot with getting in the mood for work.

BO&MIE

This boulangerie créative, as they call themselves, never disappoints with its incredible pastries, quiches, and sandwiches. Fortunately, they have stellar wifi too—just settle down on one of the large tables and get to work. There are two locations, and they’re both just as nice.

Location St Martin
Location Turbigo

Coutume Institute

A beautifully designed cafe inside of the Finnish Cultural Institute, Coutume Institute is a sight to behold, but there’s also a focused atmosphere that’s perfect for working. And who knows—you might just pick up some Finnish.

Starbucks Capucines

I know what you’re thinking—why would I put a Starbucks in this guide? There’s good reason, as this location has been renovated a couple of years ago and was turned into one of their most beautiful stores in the world. Grab a venti something, hop on their tried-and-trusted wifi, and pick one of the many plugs.

Residence Kann

Located around the corner from its mother agency Kann Design, this coffee shop is obviously impeccably designed — but also serves coffee that hits the spot. Make sure you pay attention to the small caveat printed on the menu—if you’re here to work for a longer time, don’t forget to order a drink once every while.

Yumi

Mostly known for its cold-pressed juices, this spot also serves healthy lunch food, great coffee, and freshly baked goods. The big windows offer an inspiring view of rue du Château d’Eau, and the calm vibe inspires productivity.

Bibliotheque Mazarine

You’re right — they don’t serve coffee here. But once you step into the beautiful decor of the oldest public library in France, you’ll forget about it in a second. Recently updated with high-speed wifi, so you’ll laptop will feel right at home.

Note: First 5 days are free, €15/year after.

KB Caféshop

In summer, the windows to this relaxed hangout are opened, making for the ideal place to get things done during hotter days. The coffee’s great, too, and you can’t beat the natural light coming in.

Hubsy

A seemingly Parisian invention, the city is littered with so-called coworking cafés. Hubsy offers the same as most of them—for €5 per hour or €24 per day, you can order as many coffees as you can handle and enjoy a variety of small snacks. While it doesn’t exactly fit this guide, it’s still a great place to spend some time.

Hubsy Arts et Métiers
Hubsy République
Hubsy St Lazare

Dose

Located in beautiful Batignolles, this buzzing café hosts a mean brunch on the weekends. But if you’re here to work, there’s more than enough wifi connectivity for everyone.
