Water on the moon is surprisingly far reaching and could assist with supporting future missions as drinking water or fuel, NASA reported in October.

The disclosure was made by NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Cosmology (SOFIA).

“Whether the water SOFIA found is effectively open for use as an asset still needs not set in stone,” NASA says.

“Under NASA’s Artemis program, the organization is anxious to realize all it can about the presence of water on the Moon ahead of sending the principal lady and next man to the lunar surface in 2024 and laying out a practical human presence there before the decade’s over.”
