Vaccination certificate in print form vs digital access in Trotteo.

Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I have restricted myself from travelling due to the uncertainties and restrictions imposed throughout the journey. That’s up until a few days ago, when my friends and I booked a short getaway to the Dolomites, Italy!

Following posts on social media platforms from recent travellers, we knew that going through a lengthy process at airports has pretty much become standard. This was mainly due to the presentation and vetting of health travel documents.

In preparation for our take-off, we had a folder with all our vaccination certificates and locator forms. We then had our flight information on our RyanAir app, accommodation arrangements on the Airbnb app, and car rental confirmation via email. Truth be told, it was going to be quite a hassle to switch between different apps and tools to keep track of all our travel details.

And that’s where Trotteo came in handy!

It’s a new app and thus, it is still limited in functionality. However, we found it very useful during our trip. Prior to our departure, I forwarded all our booking confirmation emails to the app — this included flights, accommodation, and car rental. Within seconds, the app automated a neat itinerary timeline of our trip! We had the important details shown within one unified screen, and more details were displayed on a separate screen.

This proved very useful for us on multiple occasions. We accessed the app whenever we needed to:

  • check our accommodation addresses,
  • confirm our check-in and check-out times,
  • check our flight details which were also partially needed to fill in the locator forms.

Additionally, the app also supports the verification of health pass certificates. This allowed us to scan the QR code of our vaccine certificates and the information was stored in the app. You can also upload the image of the vaccine certificate as the app is still able to read the QR code, verify the document and store the relevant details. This was super convenient because we had to represent our vaccine certificates several times throughout our trip — at the airport for check-in, at restaurants, bars, and shopping establishments.

So all we did was show the vaccine certificates from Trotteo and within a few seconds, we were verified! No papers, no fidgeting through our mobiles to find our digital document, and no waiting time!

On our return journey back home, we were shocked to see a massive queue waiting to have their travel documents reviewed at the airport for boarding. It was truly a hassle for most people, especially for families, since they had to prepare and present such documents for their kids as well.

If you’re currently on a trip or have flights booked, I recommend trying out the app. You can also test it out with one of your past trips, so you can get a feel of how the app works. And if you’re not travelling, then it’s still practical to have your vaccine certificate (including your kids’) easily accessed from the app, whenever needed.

I can’t wait to see what new features Trotteo has coming up! It’s user-friendly, well-designed, and functional also offline.
