A Strange Request

I stare at the monitor trying to work out what is going on. Why is a hero at my house alone? They have a strict working-in-pairs policy. Not to mention that I haven’t done anything lately to warrant a visit. I make sure my security system is ready for use then I open the door and let him in.

He walks through the threshold and no further. After a minute the large metal door automatically closes behind him.

“Captain Inordinate” I say, trying to project confidence and authority, “What are you doing here?”

He doesn’t answer right away. He seems smaller than he normally does, he is still tall and muscular, but he’s not showing it off right now. His pose is almost the opposite of what it is on his hero posters. I open the internal slider on my helmet to take a peek at his mind. I’m flooded with an overwhelming sense of nerves ‘fuck, fuck, fuck, I shouldn’t have come here, what was I thinking? Fuck, I can’t do this, this was dumb, fuck fuck’
