The Non-Forgetful Parque de Las Leyendas

Do you need something legendary?

It was a foggy , Monday morning me and the students who stayed from CWW trip were going to visit the beautiful and charming Parque de Las Leyendas, this zoo was inaugurated in 1964 by Felipe Benavides Barreda, well known Peruvian because of his work on conservatism, zoo contains around 1,700 animals, our group did not have time to see them all.The creator’s perspective was to promote culture/ research of the Peruvian ecosystem and diversity. After listening this knowledgeable information from our instructor we took a yellowish school bus to El distrito de San Miguel where the attraction is located.

We got to the park , it was around 10 am the fog of the horrendous morning had finally arrised and left the sky crystal-clear,I was amazed by the remarkable aspect of this place, you could see a sign stating “Parque de La Leyendas” .You couldn’t perceive adequately letters of the sign because they were filthy as an old rag,but it was understood what it was trying to convey,we entered this place, the booths were you paid the entrance fee, was 8.00 soles(currency =soles) for kids under the age of 3 and 12,for adults it was 14 soles from ages 13 and up, handicaps and other individuals with disabilities entered free, the booths were organized in numbers from 1 to 10,it took us a long time to arrive and pay the entrance fee for the park.

1 to 10,took us a long time to arrive and pay the entrance fee for the park.

After waiting a couple of minutes,we got to the entrance everyone dashed quickly,I was about to enter when I heard the noise of coins rattling in the floor, then I realised that part of my money fell to the floor,I picked it up from the floor because I had the irritating issue of time. The teacher looked at me in the eyes, it was like you were staring directly into the devil’s face,I understood my error ,in a respectful manner I approached to my instructor and said “sorry for being late,my money fell”;she accepted the apology,my heart stopped it’s impatient beat . We went to our first spot in the trip the imponent “Zona Selva” one of the 3 exhibits based on the 3 natural regions of Peru (Costa,Sierra,Selva) the zone contains animals of the following types:,Otorongo ,Tucanes etc. You should be aware about the climate around the park is hot and humid dressing type safety rules and food depend on the 4 exhibits you go to see (Zona Selva,Zona Costa,Zona Sierra and zona internacional).

We entered with curiosity and eagerness we felt that diversity changed dramatically and that temperatures rised fast like an unbalanced thermometer. The environment fabulous, with birds chirping melodies, trees rising up to great altitude, bird wings flapping …..We contemplated one of the best scenarios you would wish to see in your life,we saw the otorongos skin you could see a pattern of yellow with incorporated black coal-like spots that was not the only wildlife we saw beautiful toucans mating and squeaking,we felt enthralled with this until time finished , we moved on. After our , next spot arrived,”Zona Sierra”also part of the 4 exhibits of the park.If you ever visit Peru you know it will definitely be majestic because of sierra region,my opinion on this slightly changed because of the lack of biodiversity. The only thing that enlightened my day was the cultural aspect that it represented.I acquired favorable knowledge.Hooked this legend left me hope former visitors feel the same!
