"Watching Her Sleep"

The Sleeping Dinosaur

Mati,Davao Oriental

I woke up when the winding road started. It was a dizzying ordeal that i needed to get a hold of myself or else i will end up releasing last night's meal into a plastic bag. The silhouettes of trees went past us in a haze. Under the dim light, i can make out Bryan sleeping with his chair pulled backwards. A travelling pillow braced on his neck. Yadu was on a seat in front of him, all covered in malong. The time was almost 6am. Judging from our itinerary, it's about time that we will arrive at our first destination.

"Wake up,guys. We're almost at the sleeping dinosaur," Myke at the front seat said. I wasn't mistaken.

A few more minutes and we stepped out of the van with our phones and selfie sticks. We finally arrived at Badas Point just when the sun was breaking at the horizon. Its red hue was reflected by the calm ocean. With the light being cast on land, the dinosaur was revealed as it lay cozy in deep slumber.

Finally, i met the Plesiosaur sleeping on its side. The lush green vegetation had covered her just like a blanket. I said my little hello. It felt like saying sweet nothings to a special someone who was sleeping soundly. The joy you feel by just watching her sleep is irreplaceable. How much more when she opens her eyes and smiles at the sight of you. But then again, it was the sleeping dinosaur not someone else.
