Let’s talk about Silk Sonic

Silk Sonic is the definition of musical excellence, the powerhouse group made up of Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak. After completing a clean sweep at the Grammy’s last week, winning 4 Grammy’s including; Best R&B song ‘Leave the door open’; Best R&B performance, and record of the year. Topped with a timeless quote from Anderson Paak which will definitely become a meme in the future, I’m calling it now mark my words. TikTok will take hold of that video, so basically sooner or later expect to see it trending.

The duos debut album, ‘An evening with silk sonic’, was released on 15th November 2021. An absolute masterpiece, completely standing out from the crowd, especially in 2021, which has been a year filled with amazing albums such as;

• Drake, certified lover boy
• Doja cat, Plant her
• Adele, 30
• Tems, if orange was a place
• Pinkpantheress, to hell with it
• Playboi Carti, whole lotta red
• Tyler the creator, call me if you get lost

And so many more… but we all know the best album of 2021, sneaking in just as we were coming to an end of a year filled with a catalogue of great music but ‘An evening with silk sonic’ came out on top for me. Just a vibe, you can literally listen to this album at any time and instantly be in a good mood. My personal favourite track is currently, ‘ About last night’. This is the kind of album you want played live at your wedding, by far my favourite album of 2021.

Would recommend watching the Apple interview about the album. Bruno and Anderson gave such great insight into the process of making of the album. Which for me gave me a deeper appreciation for the production and difficulty in artistry, pushing themselves to create music beyond their own imaginations, which evidentially worked.
