Here’s What That Post About Taking a Train Across the USA for $213 Doesn’t Tell You
Eric Fadden

I took what I thought would be a romantic train trip from Seattle to San Francisco. I found it to be terribly uncomfortable. I didn’t know that even with empty tables my partner and I would be saddled with people at every meal. There was no romantic conversation and one breakfast we had a traveler that was interested in eating our food and was one of the most negative persons I have ever met. We just got up and left.

The toilet situation was just as you stated, after day 1 it was horrifying.

The best thing about that trip was we experienced the longest most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. I probably would have missed it if I wasn’t so desperate for the privacy of a beer and Combos in the sanctuary of the sleeping car.
