Agreed! My problem with growth mindset is that the current obsession with standards and standardized testing in public education is the poster child for fixed mindset. One grade on one test can label a child as a “failure.” Yeah, right…so let’s “teach” the child to have a growth mindset at the same time we are telling the child that nothing will ever change no matter how hard s/he tries. So much for helping students develop their unique strengths and gifts. If the child isn’t good at math and reading/writing, just relegate them to the scrap heap.
