Exiting Ignition

It’s been about a little less than a month since Launch Academy reached out to me to inform me that a seat in their winter cohort had opened up and I could opt to start in the winter instead of the upcoming spring. I was “launched” into a world of Ruby without any knowledge of coding other than some basic html that I had picked up as a child while also transitioning out of my job. My first reaction is relief, my second is excitement with a healthy hint of apprehension for what is to come.

The most helpful portion of Ignition was using Learn to Code by Chris Pine as the introduction to coding Ruby. The book allowed me to get the basic foundation needed to understand the excises that came after. The interactive online instruction that came after reinforced the information I learned from going through the book and allowed me to expand upon it. Overall, I had a very positive experience with Ignition and I feel ready for my first day at Launch Academy.
