Bada-Bing for Narcotics: Slapped on the Side of Our Head by the CDC
Scott Bolhack MD

We watched the announcement last night and heard with interest that 3–7 days is the amount of time someone should be on oxycoton for most surgical procedures. My husband, released from knee replacement surgery five days ago, is holding his bottle of pain meds near and dear, but said, “I stopped ’em earlier today but will take one more tonight for sleep.”

I think the guidelines will help more than just the physicians in their prescribing practices. It’s a clear directive to the patients as well.
