What should hurt but saves, what should save but kills

Dr. Poon’s gifted hands and spiritually awakened medical care kept on, until I decided to return from my coma to the land of the living in 2014. Text/photo JkM

how many times was i cut open to be sutured up again,
to be washed out lavaged debrided to an inch of my life
every third day for forty two days, my children kept the count
now there are multiple scars along the side of my heart
where with such tender care he cut and sutured me
repeatedly, keeping me alive until I returned from eternity.

how many times was i cut open and left open again
the viruses and sepsis of your neglect infecting me
every year, i have lost count, no amount of purging
cleaning out the poison you had left within my
breaking heart, my scar/free breast sufficed to
make a widower out of you, your bride survived.

To know where you're going find out where you've been. Not here for the fame game. I read. I write. I’m grateful.
