Video Games are good for you, here’s why
When someone mentions video games, the mental picture formed in the majority of people’s minds is of gun violence, sexism, mutiny and assault owing to a handful of games like Vice City, Manhunt and Watchdogs but I can assure you there’s a lot more to it than just raw barbarism.

Hand-eye coordination is only one amongst the plethora of skills it has to offer.
A vast variety of games require planning and strategising to get the most out of the game. The user is expected to observe her/his surroundings and figure out a game plan to emerge victoriously.
Furthermore, video games encourage their users to try the same level until they get it right and any video game enthusiast wouldn’t give up and leave midway. Perseverance is the key to being good at gaming.

It also teaches kids how to manage their finances efficiently from a young age. If they have their heart set on an item, they have to save enough money to purchase it. Not to mention, a gamer has to accomplish harder quests in order to earn more which encourages kids to take on missions a tad out of their reach.
Apart from sports, team work skills can also be imbibed from playing video games. Online multiplayer games require a substantial amount of teamwork and people skills. Games like Counter Strike and Enter The Gungeon test one’s communication and leadership skills among many others.
Minecraft is a magnificent example of a game that encourages kids to think out of the box and build something of their own by handing the user appropriate tools for building a whole new world, the only constraint being the threshold of their creativity. Kids are driven to this game because it provides an ideal environment to showcase their ingenuity and have fun doing it.

Besides, people with social anxiety take solace from the real world while playing games that transport them to a whole new world altogether. An excellent example of such a game is “Elite Dangerous” which allows its users to explore a galaxy, have galactic superpowers, shape humanity’s frontier and interact with other users without actually having to step out of their comfort zone ,i.e. their room.
Games like Mario Kart, Tetris, Adventure, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, Super Metroid and Ultimate Chicken Horse are light-hearted stress busters irrespective of whatever age bracket you fall into, and honestly de-stressing is essential nowadays since life moves at such an alarming pace.

Most games require the user to go on daily quests which establish the fact that forming a habit is necessary when one wants to excel at something. So, in conclusion, it all boils down to how to user interprets the game and how she/he employs what they learned in daily life. Whether they choose to glorify violence and machaoism or to improve themselves is entirely up to them.
