Review: Started off as such a great book. The more I read the more I hated it. This book went on it quickly became what it said it wasnât, a how to. Written by someone who claims sheâs never had a real date, or real boyfriend, while continuing to talk about what seems like her relationships. Itâs reads like it was written by a teenager.

Review: First of all: this book really does not deliver on the titleâs promise. I was really excited for this one. It seemed like exactly what any single feminist hetero woman needs: a wise guide in learning to make peace with the fact that datingâs unwritten rules are built upon the foundation of patriarchy. Instead it feels like a navel-gazing, cringe-y memoir of a woman in her 20s. I made those same cringe-y choices in my 20s, and I also thought it was worth a book. Iâm glad that I didnât have the platform to express it when I thought I was so clever.If this is a memoir, what itâs missing in that old equation is time. (Memoir = tragedy + time.) Not enough time has passed for the author to have the perspective needed to really give this subject the weight, time, and effort it deserves. Also lacking are narratives from other women. (Tho, to be fair, havenât finished it. Donât think I can.) Is she elevating any voices of WOC? If sheâs âwoke,â (ugh that word) this couldâve been a great platform to offer diverse voices on this subject. Outside of a few clever moments, this book fails to deliver on so many levels.

Review: I thought her perspective was different. However a little skewed to her way of life. The insite she gave was frankly a little terrifying and sad. She definitely keeps the men she crushes on at arms length never fully committing to what could possibly be a full on relationship. Which I get she runs the scenarios and determines the out come so she predetermines what could become a fully committed relationship and ends it before fully knowing where it is going.I thought it was fairly superficial and hypocritical at times. At one point she bashes on the scale, rating and graphing of women but then goes on to rate her own crushes and essentially graph them. I dont have a problem with the rating. I did not think it was consistent to say Men shouldnât do this but I can. We all weigh the pros and cons differently. If her point was that Men shouldnât publicly rate/shame women I agree. Keeping your thoughts and place markers for potential partners should not be done in a public forum or in such a way that it could make them feel bad for not living up to your standards.The book was entertaining and her sarcatic humor was fun. I walked away hoping she finds love and thinking it would be ironic if he was either 10+years her elder or 10+ years her younger due to some of her reactions to the age differences of some of her celebrity crushes partnerships and her thinking it is âgrossâ.I hope she keeps writing as she continues on her journey. Though I didnt always agree with her I loved that we had a lot in common and her humor was a treat.

Review: I am telling all my friends about this book (I already have). I was seriously laughing out loud at some parts because I found it so funny. I am a 26 year old female and I found the entire book to be extremely relatable; I kept thinking to myselfâŚomg Iâve totally been through this too! Iâm not alone! The entire book was written in colloquial style, which I loved â Blythe feels like my long lost best friend (she just doesnât know it yet). If youâre thinking about reading this, DO IT. So happy it brightened up my week! There are several pop culture references I didnât understand because my celebrity knowledge is abysmal and I am not cool, but I just googled my way through the book. Now I feel slightly cooler.

Review: The final chapter in this book about women dating men is about the intrinsic value of womenâs reflecting on their dating experiences. I canât think of a better happily ever after than that.Womenâs romantic expectations and experiences are so varied and so complex, itâs just nice to see anyone take them (hilariously) seriously. Itâs nice to see a smart, hot woman describe herself as such and nice to see her declare that everyone is hot. Itâs nice to see someone reflect on their ambiguous love life without shame or apology. We need more books of self-reflection by women of all identities. Iâm thankful for all the women out there making art and valuing their own perspectives, and I canât get enough.

Review: Blythe says this is not a âhow toâ book, but I think it offers plenty good advice on how to conceptualize menâs behavior in relation to the patriarchy. So funny I laughed like an idiot in lots of public spaces. Thatâs a hard thing to do when systematically dismantling the shitty behavior of men! A palatable lesson in feminism.
