162 folk out of 1183 (with a 65% open rate give or take) subscribers filled in my survey. 76 entered the draw for the book. 5 emerged victorious :)

OK this is pretty much the same as last year — most people subscribe but a few sensible souls protect their inboxes and just follow a link. I don’t track traffic on the web version — not like I’d ever do anything with the data anyway!

Big rise in people job hunting this year (+7%)but you are mainly still a curious bunch.

I’m still really not reaching much of local gov audience it seems — which is not great. NHS has risen a bit which I am happy about.

14 people have found a job via the newsletter. This makes me very happy!

This might be a chicken/egg thing as this sort of matches what I naturally add to the list — maybe I need to shake it up.

Holding firm from last year! People who want salary information on all vacancies are passionate and vocal but still not the majority — however it is starting to get easier and there are less hold-outs.

It is still pretty London centric subscriber base — 38% of respondents — but it is spreading — I had people from pretty much across the UK answer this year.

A couple of people asked questions or made comments that called for a response in the free text →

On the topic of freelance or contract roles? I don’t add them really or look for them. It is a different thing, actually drifts into something a bit too close to what I do for a living and actually it is all a bit opaque in that space. I don’t think it is a bad idea for someone to do it but it won’t be me. Sorry.

Do I think there is a talent shortage? Yep. Without doubt it is a hard market. Software is eating the world so everybody is hiring for the same skills and public service only attracts a subset of the people out there and has less tools to attract people. I do think things are improving though.

It is a bit top heavy with senior roles. This has been a bit by design but I am going to experiment with adding some less senior roles in each week I think — see how that goes down.

If there aren’t salary details can I point to indicative salary info or something? I am going to try this to some extent. I have found an FOI’d list of the BBC salary bands and someone has shared the NHS one as well — I’ll add these when I need to. If you have anything like this or more up to date ones please do share!
