Herodotus used his Greek language to write his ‘Histories’ in BC times to describe the Hebrew. Yes, he did. Yisra in Hebrew means Struggle/wrestle. Yakob struggled with El (Elohim) and was called Yisra el. The one who struggled/wrestled with El. He had 12 sons. Herodotus wrote using the Greek language to explain the strange people who had only one Gd & used the tradition of male circumcision. These were the people Herodotus first called the Palaistians long long long ago. All the West at his time read Greek, not Hebrew. Rome was a Western country. That is why they called all the Levant (French) Palaestine (Latin sp) after they conquered. it was along time ago. some people think they called it Palaestine for Philistines but this is not true as Philstine is also a Greek name meaning without culture or crude. Philistinians were not Semitic and not indigenous either but invaded in BC time around Egypt & Gaza from the Aegean. Egypt called them PLST, Hebrew called them Peleshet or Pleshet. Greeks called the Philistine. It is not Palaistine which in Greek is ‘followers of the one who wrestled.’ But after Rome, ALL were called that by the WEST. Not within accept by Rome & on Roman maps. those people were Hebrew, Christians of many kinds, Bedouin, Canaanites, Hittites, Egyptians, Phoenician, Assyrian, Perrizites (lots of old tribes I cannot remember right off) they were ALL Paleastinians to Rome. ALSO UN Declared Israel a Legal State same as they declared Jordan a legal State for Saudi on 77% of the BritishMandate. Actually the League of Nations Legalized it 1946 as they were the early UN. The Transjordan had been promised to Israel but Saudi wanted it for the Hashemites as the Arab Muslim Kingdom. Israel was asked they would concede & they said yes for peace. So 1946 it was said all West of the Jordan River was Israel. Lebanon became the Maronite Christian State and ONLY a Maronite can still ever be President. No matter how many Muslims of Sunni or Shia move in. Gaza went Egypt. There wer so many RIOTS you never mentioned by the Arabized Muslims which got WORSE after the Ottoman left..Brits did not know how to handle it. 1920s, many Jewish villages were slaughtered including Hebron 1929…do you know about that one? So when UN announced the legality of Israel (just after the Legality of Jordan) 5 Muslim countries attacked and publically said they would slaughter every ‘Jew pig’ in a great bloodbath so civilians should leave till it was over. Well, Israel FOUGHT back and fought hard despite being outnumbered and out armed. Egypt had tanks, Iraq had an airforce (from Germany)Syria mined all over and fought, Jordan, the new Saudi Kingdom was armed and captured Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem 1948 and ILLEGALLY AGAINST THE UN Annexed it 1950. The Arab League tried to kick the out of the league but were a vote short. And they made everyone Jordanian citizens and moved in more from Arabia. They trashed the old Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem completely including 34 of the 35 Synagogues and made roads from the old Jewish Cemetery. (Jerusalem had been Jewish Majority in 1947)
